The title of this work leaves it all up to the audience. An emotional rollercoaster that will stretch the musicianship of your ensemble, there is a lot to be asked of this work, and afterward, the title will make all the sense in the world!

Program Notes

“Maybe?” is a slow, thoughtful piece about someone who is wondering whether they are brave enough to take the next steps that they need to take. They are uncertain and cautious at first as they try different ideas out in their head. Then they imagine how it might feel for those things to go well before being pulled back by a moment of doubt. They question themselves and their feelings. What if? Are they brave enough? They decide they are and resolve to carry out their thoughts, gaining confidence. The piece ends with a feeling of pride which gives way to acceptance. Maybe it’s all going to be alright.
