Christina Hans

Christina Hans received her B.A. in Music Education, magna cum laude, from Old Dominion University and her Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Connecticut. She has been teaching music in Virginia since 1997 and has been the Orchestra Director at Hugo A. Owens Middle School in Chesapeake, Virginia since 1999. Under her direction the Hugo Owens Orchestra program has doubled in size and was recently selected to perform at the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference. Christina was awarded “Teacher of the Year” at Hugo A. Owens Middle School for 2011-2012 and was a nominee for Virginia’s ASTA “Orchestra Director of the Year.” Mrs. Hans plays clarinet with the Virginia Wind Symphony and has had the honor to perform three times with the Virginia Wind Symphony at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic. Her string orchestra arrangements have been selected as Editor’s Choice by JW Pepper and have been performed at the Midwest Clinic. Mrs. Hans resides in Chesapeake, Virginia with her husband, Dr. Steven Hans and daughter, Emily and son, Sebastian.
