Joanne Erwin
Joanne Erwin has been a successful string teacher for many decades in various situations for all level of players. She began her career in Illinois after completing Bachelor and Master degrees at the U of Illinois and then moved on to Texas. There she taught grades 4-12 in public schools, directed youth orchestras and earned a Ph.D. in String Pedagogy at the U of North Texas. From there she went to Oberlin Conservatory as a Professor of Music Education during which time she worked on a writing team to complete materials for FjH music of New Direction for Strings book 1 and 2, A Scale in Time and String Premiere for Wingert Jones. She is now in southern NJ teaching cello lessons and playing with her grandsons.
