Susan H. Day

Susan Day holds music degrees from Ithaca College and Columbia University, New York. She has taught strings at all grade levels in Colorado for over 30 years and received the Outstanding Teacher Award in 2000 from ASTA Colorado. She is a well known composer, with over 75 original, published, educational pieces for strings, and is currently a violinist with the Lone Tree Symphony. Among her many awards: winner of the 1997 ASTA Composition Contest (“Bass-ic Blues for Two”); 2 time winner of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association (TODA) Composition Contest, (2006 “Tango d’Amour”, 2011 “Tango Mysterioso”); winner of the 2008 Merle J. Isaac Composition Contest (“Shores of Ireland”); inducted into the Colorado Music Educators’ Hall of Fame (2008); received Lifetime Service Award from ASTA of CO (2016).
