This groovy new work for young band has an infectious beat and fun lines for each section. Easy to put together with lots of melodic sharing and a catchy B-section, “Lynx Lane Strut” is going to be a regularly occurring piece in your band rooms!
Program Notes
In the summer of 2023, I was contacted by Del Hubers to write a piece for his band. Del was kind enough to give me great creative freedom, and I decided that I wanted to write a piece that was fun, yet educational at the same time. After learning that the Brandon Valley Intermediate School has a lynx as their mascot, I was struck with the image of this cat proudly strutting around, and the piece was born. I imagined that, like my imaginary feline, the students would be able to strut around to the beat of this piece.
