In her work “Golden Daydreams,” composer Emily Golan takes us back to our childhood, laying on the ground and looking up towards the sky. The world is full of wonder and possibilities with this stunningly beautiful work for the string orchestra.

Program Notes

“Golden Daydreams” is an ode to happy thoughts – pure, sunny, lighthearted daydreaming. Forgotten are the worries and burdens of everyday life, even if only for a few moments, and in their place, we find pictures in the clouds, unspoken dreams, faraway places, fond memories, and other such fantasy. You feel the sun gently warm your face as you close your eyes and imagine casual impossibilities. My favorite moment in the piece is the key change going into M.58, where I imagine the sun breaking through the clouds and golden sunbeams spilling across the sky in a joyous, carefree manner. I hope this music finds you able to release some of your cares into the ether and engage with some Golden Daydreams of your own.
