Program Notes

As someone who has spent much of his life around the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his inspiring redemption, the main elements of the story are like old familiar friends who come to visit again and again. Even though I’ve written music for no less than four different stage versions of A Christmas Carol (including the frequently-performed musical adaptation,) I never tire of bringing the characters to life through music, so this time I’ve turned to Fezziwig’s joyous holiday party for this boisterous string work. Setting the familiar carols Deck the Hall and Good King Wenceslas as a merry dance piece with a flavor of Olde England, I encourage you to really “dig in” and kick up your heels!
