Program Notes

“Land Ahoy!” is about a group of sailors on a tea clipper in the 19th century. The ship is ending its journey and arriving at its destination. Land has been sighted, and the sailors are packing up everything on board, ready to unload. The sailors become wistful as they reflect on the adventures they have had and the bonds they have formed before returning to the moment at hand and preparing the boat for docking. Mooring ropes are thrown back onto land again at the very end.
