Program Notes

“Typhoon Fighter” is a dynamic and emotionally charged juggernaut inspired by the thrill and intensity of World War I-era fighter jets. Drawing from a deep admiration for aviation, the piece evokes the soaring flight of these iconic aircraft, capturing both the beauty and energy of a high-stakes aerial battle. With driving rhythms and a sweeping melody you won’t forget, the music reflects the raw emotion of being miles above the ground, bracing for the challenge ahead. The composition contrasts delicate moments of reflection with moments of intense action, mirroring the tension and excitement of a fighter jet in the heat of battle.

My grandfather served as a pilot in battle, and this is my musical toast to him and all of those brave souls who fought before us. Be sure to come out the gate with maximum intensity on the very first note in M.1. At M.31, be sure not to muffle the Cellos. At M.50, start this section with passion and emotion. For the last nine measures of the piece, starting at M.147, return with the same kind of maximum intensity as the opening note.
