“Midnight Echo” is a mysterious work for String Orchestra inspired by the stillness of the midnight hour. The piece weaves elements of the blues into a classical framework. The blues form, though subtle, underpins the piece, providing a structural framework that is familiar. The minor tonality throughout much of the work adds a layer of mystery and introspection, reinforcing the nocturnal theme.
The title reflects both the quiet, almost surreal atmosphere of midnight and the reverberation of sound that can linger in the stillness of darkness. The “echo” evokes the idea of voices or sounds that reverberate-both musically and metaphorically-through time, like whispers in the dark that fade and return.
