Description
A dramatic, stately march in three part form with introduction and coda. While the opening section is in d minor with a pentatonic influence, the middle section begins in lydian mode. With the martele bowings, the opening section can be compared to the resolve and determination of the Tibetan people. The legato central section is analogous to their gentleness and kindness. Dramatic outbursts and col legno bowing add to the effectiveness of the idiomatic composition that also has a modern sound.(5 minutes)
