Description
Gentle, romantic, and a touch Jazzy, “Rose Petal Waltz” evokes the joy one might feel when choosing flowers as a gift for a loved one.
Program Notes
“Rose Petal Waltz” is a lightly jazzy, gentle, lilting, romantic waltz full of optimism and contentment. Imagine someone happily considering giving flowers to another to let them know they care. Part of their positivity is thinking about the recipient’s surprise and joy when they are eventually presented with the beautiful blooms.
The piece is a Grade 3.0 work in 3/4 and D major, making use of a variety of slurs, including hooked bowings, occasional double stops in the inner parts, and, for all, a touch of pizzicato and minor position changes in line with the grade level (though the piece is mainly in 1st position).
