Program Notes

The Dark Hallow Falls are in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia, and part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This work is a musical representation of the beauty of the falls and the region. The melody is based on a folk song, “Lord Randall,” which appears in many variants both in Great Britain and the Appalachian Mountains of America.
